Luwak
Some say that Kopi Luwak is more of an urban legend than a 'genuine article'. One thing is for sure, going for $150 - $300 a pound this 'article' makes for an interesting story and an expensive cup of java. Legend has it that in Indonesia a weasel-like animal called a Palm Civet (actually a type of Mongoose) eats only the choicest coffee berries and excretes them, partially digested, much to the delight of the locals who gather these choice nuggets and brew up 'Kopi Luwak' from them. Luwak coffee is described as 'earthy' and having a 'rich, caramel flavor' or 'with a hint of chocolate overtones'. Hmmm.
